50-41

This is an extraordinarily straightforward introduction to what has been an extremely complex task.

While many of my peers have been creating ‘best of 2010’ posts that consist of the best singles and albums from the past twelve months, I’ve been thinking bigger. I’ve wanted to compile my favourite tracks of all time for years now, but have shied away from the sheer volume of what that would entail.

When I’m out and dancing, sure, a heavy bass line is what I’m craving. But I was raised on Hendrix, The Eagles and such, so you’ll see how that’s heavily influenced the tracks on this list. That’s not to say that dance and electro haven’t also crept their way inside my head however…

But I digress. With my neck on the line, I present to you the first ten songs.

50. Bonobo – Flutter

49. Incubus – Drive

48. The Sundays – Wild Horses

47. Vampire Weekend – A-Punk

46. Two Door Cinema Club – Undercover Martyn

45. The xx – Crystalised

44. Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition

43. Primal Scream – Loaded

42. FC Kahuna – Hayling

41. Shy FX & T-Power – Shake Ur Body

Thanks for sharing Vikki. I will be watching this countdown with interest. So far it’s a nice mixture of the very familiar with the ‘never heard of’. Promising!
